Why do some Brainbench pages refer to 123assess.com and do I need to use this URL?
The Brainbench certification engine runs on the 123assess.com domain
name. You do not need to use the 123assess.com URL to perform any of
the Brainbench functions. Going to 123assess.com will cause you to view
the Brainbench feature without the Element K site links at the top of
the page. The smoothest and most reliable method for Element K students
to take Brainbench exams is to first login to Element K and then click
the Take Certification Exam link on your My Courses or Learning Advisor
page. You can access Brainbench exams this way to select a new exam,
start a previously selected exam or continue an exam in progress.

If you were disconnected from an exam in the middle, don't worry: you can start from where you left off.
Remember that when you began the exam, Brainbench displayed a Session Re-Entry Code.
Within one hour of being disconnected,
return to the Brainbench main menu and click the View or Take an Unused Exam link.
Now click the Begin Exam link to the right of the Session Re-Entry Code. The exam will begin again,
but this time, it will start where you left off.

Each exam contains hundreds of questions, of which you see a small subset. To maintain the

answers. After taking an exam, you'll receive an email that identifies your strengths and weaknesses
in each test area.

What is Computer Adaptive Testing (CAT)?
As you respond to "questions", a computer-adaptive test "adapts" itself
to you by selecting the next item to present based on your
performance on preceding items.
Top
Why is CAT better than static testing?
The advantages of CAT include:
- CAT requires fewer exam questions to arrive at a more accurate
estimate of your proficiency than pencil-and-paper exams.
- CAT technology provides you with immediate feedback about your performance.
- Each test taker views a different set of questions, which enhances the accuracy and security
of exams.
- CAT scoring takes into account not just the number of items answered correctly,
but also the specific items answered correctly.
- A test taker who correctly answers a more difficult
set of questions will score higher than a test taker who correctly answers an
easier set of questions.
